Honor Your Military Hero Oct. 1 and Veterans Day

Would you like to help us honor someone who is active or retired military, a military veteran, a deceased veteran, in the Reserve Forces or the National Guard? From October 1 through Veterans Day, November 11, First Reliance Bank will be recognizing this very special segment of our Hometown Heroes program and raising money for those who protect us!

And we have three ways that you can be part of this effort and help raise up to a total of $1,000 for the Wounded Soldiers Foundation.

1. Go to our Facebook page and post a photo or video of your personal and special military heroes. Tell us how they are related to you (Grandfather, Dad, Mom, sister, friend, etc.), and let us know which branch of the service they serve in or have served in. Be sure to list what they do or did in the service (their jobs). Tell us if they served in a war (include the name of the war) and include anything else that you would like to say about your hero. We'll donate $5 to the Wounded Soldiers Foundation for every photo or video posted.

2. Get the kids involved! Show your kids the wonderful “Generations Of Heroes” website. They'll discover a great way to participate in interviewing and recording aging military heroes for a special South Carolina project. After your family creates a video for this site, post the video on First Reliance Bank's Facebook page and we’ll triple each donation to the Wounded Soldiers Foundation from $5 to $15.

3. “Ace” A Veterans Day School Assignment. Does your child's school give out assignments for students to create posters or articles honoring someone in their family who was in the service? If your child has this assignment, please post a photo of his or her work to our Facebook page and First Reliance Bank will donate $5 for their recognition of a hero to the Wounded Soldiers Foundation.

Help us spread the word about First Reliance Bank's special recognition program called Hometown Heroes. It's exclusively for military and civilians who serve our country and community. It's free to sign up and it includes opportunities for special offers and programs throughout the year.
